22-28 mmol/L

Results <10 mmol/L will be phoned to the requesting clinician.

Turnaround:

Within 30 minutes of receipt. 

Special Precautions/Comments:

Please transport immediately to laboratory (via pneumatic tube system) for analysis within 30 minutes of sample collection.

Additional Information:

Bicarbonate (HCO3, also known as total CO2) can indicate the metabolic component of an acid-base disorder. It is also included in a blood gas profile.
