Carboxyhaemoglobin (COHb) is formed when carbon monoxide (CO) binds to haemoglobin. It is measured in the investigation of CO poisoning, such as in cases of smoke inhalation.
Carboxyhaemoglobin can also be increased in smokers (up to 9%).
