The container should be labelled with renal labels provided by the laboratory. The Cellular Pathology Department must be informed by telephone of an impending biopsy from CHS from either the Ward or ultrasound (for renal cancers) and when the biopsy is taken to Pathology Specimen Reception the staff must be informed that the biopsy is urgent and if the courier has left a taxi will be required to ensure the sample arrives within 60 minutes at the QEH laboratory so it can be dealt with before autolysing and compromising outcomes.
