Special Precautions/Comments:

Any positive results should be confirmed using gene mutation analysis wherever possible. False negative results can be a result of poor collection technique, likewise false positive results can be seen in contaminated samples. Positive results may also be found in children suffering from hypothyroidism, nephrogenic diabetes insipidus or Addison’s disease.

 

 

 

Additional Information:

Analysis should not be performed on children under two weeks old as they do not produce enough sweat or in children who are dehydrated or have skin conditions.
