Additional Information:
Tacrolimus is an immunosuppressant drug used to prevent rejection after solid organ transplantation. Studies suggest tacrolimus has clinical advantages over cyclosporin with fewer side effects and decreased occurrence of acute rejection. It has a narrow therapeutic window and is associated with many side effects. Therapeutic drug monitoring is therefore essential to optimise immunosuppression, minimise adverse effects and check patient compliance.
