Thrombin Time is a test which can be used as an indicator of fibrin formation and can be used to detect the presence of anticoagulants including antithrombin antibodies, heparin and direct thrombin inhibitors: acquired and hereditary abnormalities of fibrin formation: or polymerization including higher levels of fibrinogen degradation products, paraproteinemias and dysfibrinogens.
