Urine calcium is usually measured in patients with abnormal serum calcium levels. Measurement can aid investigation of parathyroid disease and familial hypocalciuric hypercalcaemia (FHH) by calculation of the calcium-creatinine clearance ratio. Hypercalciuria also carries an increased risk of urinary calculi.
